We received the call that we were going to be one of the first units to respond in what we know to be Operation Odyssey Dawn.
We spent many hours preparing our F-15E fleet for maximum effectiveness
We presented our vision to leadership
There were many times the plan would change
The First Sergeant delivered pizzas to the flightline personnel
The Secretary and her husband delivered homemade sandwiches
We had a Maintenance Professional of the Year banquet that we postponed the ceremony but still cooked the delicious BBQ to serve
MSgt Egbert knows how to prepare a delicious meal!
We launched an 18-ship of F-15Es in less than 48 hours
On 20 March 2011, 4 of the 18 made a direct attack from RAF Lakenheath to Benghazi
22 March 2011 was a sobering day for us, we heard that one of our aircraft (91-0304) had crashed
I was so relieved to know that aircrew were safe and healthy. I've worked with the pilot, Maj Ken "MeSo" Harney since joining the unit in 2009. He told his story to a full Hangar welcoming him home!
We were able to share our maintenance story 6 weeks later
