Tropical Vacay - Day 5

A day dedicated to discovering more about Madeira...a great day for it too!
Dad loves tour guides!  He loves learning and his mind is a steal trap...he recalls everything!
Always finds things far away to discover
Mom & Dad in a toboggan...Dad refers to Mom's purse as her "airbag"  :)
A toboggan is a simple sled which is a traditional form of transport
The traditional toboggan is made of bound, parallel wood slats and a thin rope to provide steering
Then one must try on the toboggan hat afterwards!
Dad found a picture of the Madeira runway as it was being constructed
Todd found a wooden spoon just for Tyler (hahahahaha)
Our tour van drove us to the third highest peak of the Island...1810 meters = 5938 feet
It was a little chilly up at the altitude but it was breathtaking
Back down the peak we go!
The tour guide had a hike planned before lunch but it was already close to 1pm and the hike was going to be around 45 minutes...we totally stepped it out to make up some time to get back on the bus to our lunch spot!

We made it to the photo spot, now we can hike back for lunch!!!
A pretty ceramic tile portrait on the side of the restaurant
The tables offered a great view
A little humor with the little spoon
Dad exaggerating the temperature of the coffee and notice his pinky is extended
He looks like a duck!
Mr Cool
One of the last stops was a pretty golf course

From greens to...
...the shoreline!  :)
